Adaptive Kalman filter for harmonic detection in active power filter application
2015 IEEE Electrical Power and Energy Conference (EPEC), 2015This paper deals with the harmonic detection which is decoupled from the operation of active power filter. Kalman filter for harmonic detection based on a stochastic state-space model is proposed. However, it is a challenging task in large time varying system to know the process and noise covariance matrices Q and R.

A Novel Active Power Filter for Harmonic Suppression
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2005In this paper, a novel active power filter is proposed and implemented by using a voltage-source power converter with a series connected inductor and capacitor set. The power converter is controlled to generate a compensating voltage that is converted into a compensating current via the series connected inductor and capacitor set.

Power system harmonic analysis using the Kalman filter
2003 IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37491), 2004This paper explores the practical application of the Kalman filter to the analysis of harmonic levels in power systems. The merits and limitations of different possible implementations are investigated and the effect of fundamental frequency variation is examined. The tuning of the Kalman filter for desired dynamic response is discussed and an adaptive

Ensemble-Kalman-Filter-Based Power System Harmonic Estimation
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2012The growing use of power-electronics-based components and nonlinear loads is increasing the presence of harmonics in power system signals. In this scenario, proper estimation of such harmonics is intended to maintain power quality and improved operation of the system.

Modular approach to active power-line harmonic filtering
PESC 98 Record. 29th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference (Cat. No.98CH36196), 2002Active power-line filtering is conventionally performed by injecting equal-but-opposite of the distortion into the line. The power converter used for this purpose is rated based on the magnitude of the distortion current and operated at the switching frequency dictated by the desired filter bandwidth.

Power System Voltage Harmonic Identification Using Kalman Filter
2006 12th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference, 2006The intensive use of power converters and other non-linear loads in industry and by consumers in general, has produced an increasing deterioration of the power systems voltage waveforms. The presence of harmonic distortion in power lines results in greater power losses in the distribution systems, interference problem in communication systems and ...

Harmonic Computation Technique Suitable for Active Power Filters
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2007The design and implementation of a novel method for reference generation that is applied to active power Alters (APFs) is introduced in this paper. The proposed reference generation performs harmonic detection based on the Goertzel algorithm. The method computes both the module I1 and the phase phi of the signal, with minimum computation overhead. This

Trends in power factor correction with harmonic filtering
Industry Applications Society 38th Annual Petroleum and Chemical Industry Conference, 1993The author presents an overview of the harmonics problem and examines how utilities are beginning to interpret and apply harmonics standards. He discusses IEEE Standard 519-1981 and addresses the concern that some utility standards go well beyond the IEEE guidelines to the point of being unreasonable. >
