On Subgroups of Prime Power Index
Journal of the London Mathematical Society, 2000{R.~M.~Guralnick} classified all the finite simple groups which possess a subgroup of prime power index [J. Algebra 81, 304-311 (1983; Zbl 0515.20011)]. Here we determine all finite groups \(G\) which admit a subgroup \(K\) of index \(p^a\), \(p\) a prime, under the assumption that \(G\) has an irreducible and faithful \(\text{GF}(q)\)-module \(V\) in ...

A Strength-Endurance Index for Power Grip
Journal of Occupational Rehabilitation, 2009The purpose of this study was to quantify muscle strength and endurance in power grip.Workers (74 M and 74 F, 18-72 years) squeezed a dynamometer for a 60 s, 18-cycle test. Initial strength (IS) and final strength (FS) were calculated as the mean peak force for cycles 1-3 and 16-18, respectively.

Libraries are a good example of a database because they are designed to make the search and retrieval of books easier and more efficient, as mentioned in Chapter 1, “Where Did Databases Come From?” In this chapter we are going to use libraries to illustrate how indexing works. My own personal library is a modest affair of a couple hundred books crammed

Journal of Theoretical Politics, 1998
This paper demonstrates that the mathematical properties of the member bargaining power measure (MBP) are identical with those of the public good index (PGI). However, the underlying theoretical concepts of the two measures are different. The MBP refers to bargaining over shares of the coalition value, and thus has a private good perspective, whereas ...
