Consideration to minimize power losses in synchronous rectification

8th International Conference on Power Electronics - ECCE Asia, 2011
A synchronous rectification in high performance converter design is an essential block for low voltage and high current applications since significant efficiency and power density improvements can be achieved by replacing schottky rectification with synchronous rectification MOSFETs.

Minimization of real power losses using reactive power control

Electric Power Systems Research, 1989
Abstract Reactive power control in a power system is useful to improve the voltage profile and reduce the system power losses. The power loss is minimized with VAR sources as control variables (capacitors/inductors, SVSs and generator reactive powers) and variable transformer tap ratios. The constraints are on the bus voltage magnitudes.

Utility of PSO for power loss minimization in a power system network

2014 First International Conference on Automation, Control, Energy and Systems (ACES), 2014
This paper presents a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) based algorithm to optimize the power flow in a power system network. Transmission loss function has been used as the problem objective. Various constraints participating in the problem formulation are voltage magnitude constraint, tap setting value constraint and nodal reactive capacity ...

Smart DER control for minimizing power losses in distribution feeders

Electric Power Systems Research, 2014
Abstract Distributed energy resources, such as distributed generators and storage systems, are generally considered as active power sources. Indeed, they can also be used as reactive power resources, which contribute to reduce the power losses in a distribution feeder.

Harmonic Analysis for Power Loss Minimization in Radial Distribution System

2020 11th International Conference on Computing, Communication and Networking Technologies (ICCCNT), 2020
A power quality problem such as high current harmonics, low power factor and an excessive neutral current result due to non-linear power electronic loads has a significant impact on industrial and commercial power distribution systems. In this regard, extensive surveys have reported quantifying the problems associated with electric power networks ...

A novel distributed algorithm for power loss minimizing in Smart Grid

2014 IEEE International Conference on Smart Grid Communications (SmartGridComm), 2014
Because power generation of renewable resources are unstable and demands of the customers are time-varying, the supply power and demands of the customers are always unequal. To meet the demands of the customers, power is transmitted from primary power generation to secondary power generation. It will cause high power loss.

Cuckoo Search Algorithm for Minimization of Power Loss and Voltage Deviation

International Journal of Energy Optimization and Engineering, 2016
This paper proposes a cuckoo search algorithm (CSA) to solve the optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) problem in power system operation considering the power loss and voltage deviation. The proposed CSA is a nature inspired algorithm from the cuckoo species laying their eggs in the nest of other species.

Minimizing asymmetric loss in medium-term wind power forecasting

Renewable Energy, 2015
Abstract In this article we propose a new wind power forecasting model that does not focus on providing the most precise forecasts, but minimizes the financial loss of forecasting impreciseness. We show that the loss function is asymmetric and therefore account for asymmetry during the estimation stage of our model.

Power flow control with losses minimization and fault tolerance for PMSG

IECON 2012 - 38th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2012
This paper proposes a loss minimization control including fault tolerance for variable-speed permanent magnet synchronous generators, for which it is required that power flows stays constant and the generated energy processed through a AC/DC/AC power converter. It propose and compare two different 4-wires topologies.
