Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Chance-Constrained ADMM Approach for Decentralized Control of Distributed Energy Resources

open access: yes, 2018
Distribution systems are undergoing a dramatic transition from a passive circuit that routinely disseminates electric power among downstream nodes to the system with distributed energy resources.

Minimizing Power Loss Using Modified Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm

open access: yesJournal of Computing Research and Innovation, 2021
Electrical energy losses are found in any part of the power system. In the power system, it is essential to minimize the real power loss in transmission lines. The voltage deviation at the load buses through controlling the reactive power flow is very important.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

A COMPUTER CALCULATION FOR TENTATIVE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT BY REACTIVE POWER COMPENSATION CONSIDERING SYSTEM UNBALANCED [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
An improvement of unbalanced distribution system operation is carried out by reactive power compensation. The lagging reactive power demand is compensated by allocating a number of three-phase shunt capacitors.

Minimization of power loss in tilting‐pad journal bearings

open access: yesIndustrial Lubrication and Tribology, 2010
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to implement an optimization approach for the tilting‐pad journal bearing using the genetic algorithm (GA), and compare the results with the method of feasible design (MFD).Design/methodology/approachThe optimum design of a five‐pad tilting‐pad bearing is studied for the optimal performance, considering system ...

Distributed power flow loss minimization control for future grid [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications, 2014
SummaryIn this paper, a novel decentralized algorithm is proposed to minimize power flow loss in a large‐scale future grid connecting with many real‐time‐distributed generation systems by which power flows bi‐directionally. The DC‐power loss at each link is defined as the product of resistance and the square of current that can be considered as a ...
