Understanding Market Power

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2022
Antitrust laws are concerned with controlling market power. In the course of history, the development of antitrust systems of market power control in the US and in the European Union (EU) has not followed a straight path. Legal practice, political ideology, and developments in economics have shaped an overcomplicated and undertheorized body of doctrine

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Market power mitigation in the UK power market [PDF]

open access: yesUtilities Policy, 2006
Market power has been a constant theme in the history of the electricity restructuring in England and Wales. When the industry was restructured, the government created three large generating companies, two of which shared almost all the stations capable of setting prices in the industry’s centralised spot market.
