One-dimensional vertical dust strings in a glass box

open access: yes, 2011
The oscillation spectrum of a one-dimensional vertical dust string formed inside a glass box on top of the lower electrode in a GEC reference cell was studied. A mechanism for creating a single vertical dust string is described.

Anti‐Slip Material‐Based Strategies and Approaches

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review highlights the principle mechanisms of slipping at the microscale, linking contact mechanics with a friction behavior model for surface interfaces. Main strategies to develop anti‐slip properties to the surfaces are discussed alongside standardized testing approaches.

Interaction energy-based power coupling oscillation analysis and suppression of grid-forming converter connected system

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
The power coupling effect of the grid-forming converter will cause instability oscillation when it connects to low-voltage short-distance transmission lines. To solve this problem, this paper presents an energy interaction analysis method for oscillation

Ultrabroadband Excitation of Hot Carriers in Plasmonic Nanorods Revealed by Two‐Dimensional Electronic Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This work dissects the ultrafast response of polydisperse plasmonic nanorods using two‐dimensional electronic spectroscopy, uniquely combining temporal and spectral resolution. Our ultrabroadband pulses cover both transverse and longitudinal nanorods’ resonances, revealing sub‐200‐fs dynamics and distinct broadening mechanisms.

Active damping control of multi-scale oscillations in new energy grid connection considering wideband negative resistance characteristics

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Due to the stochasticity and complexity of renewable energy grid-connected systems, conventional control methods are limited to single-frequency-point regulation and lack broadband adaptability, making it difficult to effectively suppress wideband ...

Resilient wide‐area multi‐mode controller design based on Bat algorithm for power systems with renewable power generation and battery energy storage systems

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2019
Modern power systems consist of power electronics devices, which are used in renewable energy (RE) conversion. However, these devices, associated controllers, and uncertainty in RE output could bring new challenges to power system stability, especially ...

The effect of primordial fluctuations on neutrino oscillations

open access: yes, 2008
Recent work has shown that neutrino oscillations in matter can be greatly enhanced by flips between mass eigenstates if the medium is fluctuating with a period equal to the neutrino oscillation length.
