Electric Power Enhancement using Spin-Polarized Fuel in Fusion Power Plants [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Using a range of fusion power plant (FPP) concepts, we demonstrate that spin-polarized fuel (SPF) can significantly enhance net electric power output, often by many multiples. Notably, the electric power gain from SPF generally exceeds the corresponding increase in thermal fusion power. Plants close to engineering breakeven stand to benefit most, where

Graph Distance and Adaptive K-Nearest Neighbors Selection-Based Density Peak Clustering

open access: yesIEEE Access
Density Peak Clustering (DPC) is known for its rapid identification of cluster centers and successful clustering tasks. However, traditional DPC encounters several issues, which include simplifications in local density and distance metrics, a non-robust ...

Effects of Pharmacologic and Nonpharmacologic Interventions for the Management of Sleep Problems in People With Fibromyalgia: Systematic Review and Network Meta‐Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue. Almost everyone with fibromyalgia has sleep problems. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of current interventions for the management of fibromyalgia‐related sleep problems.

Nonautonomous Motion Study on Accelerated and Decelerated Lump Waves for a (3 + 1)-Dimensional Generalized Shallow Water Wave Equation with Variable Coefficients

open access: yesComplexity, 2019
Under investigation in this paper is a (3 + 1)-dimensional variable-coefficient generalized shallow water wave equation. The exact lump solutions of this equation are presented by virtue of its bilinear form and symbolic computation.

Effectiveness of a Telephone‐Delivered Walk With Ease Program on Arthritis‐Related Symptoms, Function, and Activity: A Randomized Trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Walk With Ease (WWE) is a six‐week arthritis‐appropriate evidence‐based physical activity program traditionally offered in a face‐to‐face format. Because many populations encounter participation barriers to in‐person programs, WWE was modified for telephone delivery (WWE‐T).

Equivalent power law potentials [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
It is shown that the radial Schroedinger equation for a power law potential and a particular angular momentum may be transformed using a change of variable into another Schroedinger equation for a different power law potential and a different angular momentum.

Placebo Effect Sizes in Clinical Trials of Knee Osteoarthritis Using Intra‐Articular Injections of Biologic Agents

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Patients with knee osteoarthritis rely on symptomatic treatments, in which up to 75% of the pain reduction can be attributed to the placebo effect. This effect may vary based on treatment type (eg, biologics vs nonbiologic injection) and route of administration (eg, intra‐articular vs topical vs oral).

Power Aware Physical Model for 3D ICs [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of VLSI Design & Communication Systems, 2011
In this work we have proposed a geometric model that is employed to devise a scheme for identifying the hotspots and zones in a chip. These spots or zone need to be guarded thermally to ensure performance and reliability of the chip. The model namely continuous unit sphere model has been presented taking into account that the 3D region of the chip is ...
