The influence of segment endpoint kinematics on segmental power calculations

Gait & Posture, 1998
Segment power can be estimated from the rate of change of segment energy or from segment endpoint dynamics. The inequality between these two calculations is termed the segment power imbalance (DeltaP). Explanations for this imbalance have been largely anecdotal.

Detection and Segmentation of Power Line Fires in Videos

2020 IEEE Power & Energy Society Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Conference (ISGT), 2020
Poor vegetation management around power lines can cause severe fires that lead to tremendous economic losses, environmental degradation, and fatalities. The early discovery of a fire's presence is the key to avoiding catastrophic damages. In this paper, we propose a hybrid fire detection framework based on a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) and ...

Segmented bus design for low-power systems

IEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems, 1999
This paper proposes a bus-segmentation method that efficiently reduces the switched capacitance on the bus. The power consumed by the bus can, therefore, be substantially reduced. The basic idea of bus segmentation is to partition the bus into several bus segments separated by pass transistors.

A scan segmentation architecture for power controllability and reduction

2015 28th IEEE International System-on-Chip Conference (SOCC), 2015
With the chip size entering the micro-nano level, the increasing power consumption during the chip testing process becomes the bottleneck of chip production and testing. Prior work has been mainly focused on reducing power dissipation in either shift cycle or capture cycle, however, there has been limited work on reducing the peak power in both shift ...

Supervised multispectral image segmentation with power watersheds

2012 19th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2012
In recent years, graph-based methods have had a significant impact on image segmentation. They are especially noteworthy for supervised segmentation, where the user provides task-specific foreground and background seeds. We adapt the power watershed framework to multispectral and hyperspectral image data and incorporate similarity measures from the ...

MR Image Segmentation Using a Power Transformation Approach

IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2009
This study proposes a segmentation method for brain MR images using a distribution transformation approach. The method extends traditional Gaussian mixtures expectation-maximization segmentation to a power transformed version of mixed intensity distributions, which includes Gaussian mixtures as a special case.

A mm-Wave Segmented Power Mixer

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2015
The segmented power-mixer array based mm-wave power generation architecture is demonstrated to be an energy-efficient technique for generating high-speed nonconstant envelope modulations. High output power levels are achieved by efficiently combining power from several power mixers using an area efficient dual-primary distributed active transformer ...

Power Optimization Techniques for Segmented Digital Displays

2011
A number of power optimization techniques for portable electronic systems have been proposed earlier based on instruction-level characterization, compiler optimizations, source-level transformations, memory management schemes at the software level or dynamic power management and voltage scaling at the hardware level.

A New Effective and Powerful Image Segmentation Method

2005
A new algorithm for image segmentation named radar algorithm is proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithm is based on SOM network model, the mathematical morphology and physical simulation. This new algorithm is simple and easy to use while with powerful functions. The time complexity of the radar algorithm is 90*O(n3).

Exploiting Computation Power of Blockchain for Biomedical Image Segmentation

2019 IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Workshops (CVPRW), 2019
Biomedical image segmentation based on Deep neural network (DNN) is a promising approach that assists clinical diagnosis. This approach demands enormous computation power because these DNN models are complicated, and the size of the training data is usually very huge.
