Second-Order Microring Filter with Large Free-Spectral-Range and Wavelength-Tunable-Range over 50 nm

open access: yesPhotonics
The high-order microring filter has been proposed for a larger free spectral range (FSR) compared with the single microring filter; therefore, it has great potential to be used in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems.

Real‐World Safety and Effectiveness of JAK Inhibitors in Systemic Sclerosis: A Propensity‐Matched Study from the EUSTAR Cohort

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective JAK inhibitors (JAKis) have shown promising effects in early‐phase studies of SSc. We aimed to assess the safety and explore effectiveness of JAKis compared to conventional immunosuppressants in SSc. Methods A longitudinal retrospective study of the EUSTAR cohort was performed.

Acoustic Radiation by 3D Vortex Rings in Air

open access: yesAerospace, 2015
Acoustic radiation emitted by three-dimensional (3D) vortex rings in air has been investigated on the basis of the unsteady Navier–Stokes equations. Power series expansions of the unknown functions with respect to the initial vorticity which is supposed ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control

The colors of proxy noise [PDF]

open access: yesClimate of the Past
The complex biological and physical processes that preserve paleoclimate information over centuries or longer introduce variations in proxy time series that are unrelated to the true climate.

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

About j{\mathscr{j}}-Noetherian rings

open access: yesOpen Mathematics
Let RR be a commutative ring with identity and j{\mathscr{j}} an ideal of RR. An ideal II of RR is said to be a j{\mathscr{j}}-ideal if I⊈jI\hspace{0.33em} \nsubseteq \hspace{0.33em}{\mathscr{j}}.
