Visible and Infrared Dual‐Band Camouflage Device Using Reflective Display Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Integrating electrochromic devices and electrophoretic display technologies has led to developing a flexible dual‐band camouflage device. The system enables adaptive modulation across visible and near‐infrared spectra through pixel‐level control, rapid switching, and bistable operation.

A 20 kiloHertz space station power system [PDF]

open access: yes
The space station represents the next major U.S. commitment in space. The efficient delivery of power to multiple user loads is key to that success. In 1969, NASA Lewis Research Center began a series of studies with component and circuit developments ...

Dielectric Barrier Discharge Electrothermal Heating and Additive Manufacturing of Thermoset Parts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
3D printing of thermosets is difficult due to the low yield stress of most uncured resins. However, by locally heating resin using a non‐equilibrium plasma, layers can be partially cured and printing enabled. Plasma application to a liquid epoxy/carbon nanotube composite is observed to cause rapid surface heating and oxidation of the cured layers ...

Solar dynamic power for space station freedom [PDF]

open access: yes
The Space Station Freedom Program is presently planned to consist of two phases. At the completion of Phase 1, Freedom's manned base will consist of a transverse boom with attached manned modules and 75 kW of available electric power supplied by ...

Direct Integration of Polycrystalline Diamond With 3C‐SiC for Enhanced Thermal Management in GaN HEMTs: Impact of Grain Structure and Interface Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) is directly bonded to 3C‐SiC for GaN HEMTs on a 2‐inch wafer using an advanced room‐temperature process. Despite high thermal conductivity at the growth surface, phonon scattering at the fine‐grained nucleation side raises thermal resistance.

Space power by laser illumination of PV arrays [PDF]

open access: yes
There has recently been a resurgence of interest in the use of beamed power to support space exploration activities. The utility is examined of photovoltaics and problem and research areas are identified for photovoltaics in two beamed-power applications:
