The communicative power of expert systems

R&D Management, 1985
Abstract‘Expert Systems’ or intelligent knowledge‐based computer systems can be expected to have a considerable impact in the near future on the dissemination and use of technical expertise in practical situations. The potential benefits of such an approach to decision‐making in applied science domains, for example, in anti‐corrosive coating selection,

Communications scheme of a modular power conversion system

2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2015
Power systems are step by step increasing its complexity in order to fulfill the requirements of current energy scenario. An interesting option is to use power systems formed by the connection of multiple power converters working to achieve a common objective.

Co-simulation of power systems, communication and controls

2014 Workshop on Modeling and Simulation of Cyber-Physical Energy Systems (MSCPES), 2014
The increase of complexity in power system applications makes it difficult to investigate research questions within one dedicated specific environment. This paper shows the coupling between continuous simulation of power systems and discrete-event based simulation of communication in combination with automation and control systems.

A low-power wireless mobile communications system

Proceedings of IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC), 2002
The paper describes a wireless mobile communication system which employs a high gain electronically steered array antenna connected to a radio receiver at a base station. By using a steerable, narrow beamwidth, high gain antenna pattern, the receiver can detect much weaker signals than receivers connected to conventional fixed pattern antennas.

Power management for energy-aware communication systems

ACM Transactions on Embedded Computing Systems, 2003
System-level power management has become a key technique to render modern wireless communication devices economically viable. Despite their relatively large impact on the system energy consumption, power management for radios has been limited to shutdown-based schemes, while processors have benefited from superior techniques based on dynamic voltage ...

An implementation of an in-vehicle power line communication system

2017 IEEE 6th Global Conference on Consumer Electronics (GCCE), 2017
This paper proposes an in-vehicle power line communication (PLC) system which provides an in-vehicle communication for the video and vehicle messages transmission as a reliable alternative networking medium. The proposed in-vehicle PLC system adopts an existing in-vehicle 12-V battery power system, which means we don't need an external DC power supply ...

Power-Aware Communication Systems

2002
Battery-operated systems usually operate as part of larger networks where they wirelessly communicate with other systems. Conventional techniques for low-power design, with their focus on circuits and computation logic in a system, are at best inadequate for such networked systems. The reason is two fold. First, the energy cost associated with wireless

Nuclear Power Systems for Advanced High-Powered Communications Satellites

Communications Satellite Systems Conference, 1966
Abstract A survey is presented of the nuclear power systems which are considered to be most suitable for advanced, high-powered communications satellites and which can be available in the 1970-75 time period. The general criteria for communication satellite power systems are discussed and candidate power systems which might be expected to meet these ...
