A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Combined‐harmonics wireless power transfer system

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation
A technique for wireless power transfer (WPT) efficiency improvement by a proper design of the excitation waveform is presented. This improvement is obtained on the one hand by a combined‐harmonics excitation, and on the other hand by exploiting multiple‐

Harmonics Mitigation of Industrial Power System Using Passive Filters [PDF]

open access: yesMehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2012
With the development of modern industrial technology a large number of non-linear loads are used in power system, which causes harmonic distortion in the power system. At the same time the power quality and safe operation becomes inferior.

Is an Apple an Orange? A Large Language Model Benchmark for Candidate Term Extraction and Subclass Decisions Against Upper Ontologies in Engineering and Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.
