Power system restoration planning
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1994Power system restoration, as an extraordinary mode of system operation, requires careful planning and operator training. The generic tasks of restoration include determination of system and equipment status, preparation of plants and network for systematic restoration, reenergization of the network, and system rebuilding.

An Integrated Approach for Power System Restoration Planning
Proceedings of the IEEE, 2017Power system outages/blackouts, especially weather related, are becoming more and more frequent, incurring significant economic and social costs. The ability to restore power services quickly after a blackout is crucial for power system resilience.

Policies for Restoration of a Power System
IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1987Policies for effective restoration of a power system are presented. Three plans implement these ideas, covering conditioning, preparedness, and restoration. The problem is tackled with a triple approach, from the viewpoint of installations, personnel, and the restoration plan.

Power System Restoration - A Task Force Report
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1987The IEEE PES System Operation Subcommittee has established the Power System Restoration Task Force to: review operating practices, conduct a literature search, prepare relevant glossaries and bibliographies, and promote information exchange through technical papers. This is the first report of the Task Force.

Probability of restoring power to the transmission power system and the time to restore power
Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2020Abstract Probabilistic safety assessment requires inputs related to the probability of restoring certain equipment versus the available time interval available. The data about the history of events include descriptions of events and the time for restoring the failed equipment.

Power System Restoration With Transient Stability
Proceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2015We address the problem of power system restoration after a significant blackout. Prior work focus on optimization methods for finding high-quality restoration plans. Optimal solutions consist in a sequence of grid repairs and corresponding steady states. However, such approaches lack formal guarantees on the transient stability of

Recent advancements on power system restoration
2017 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT-Asia), 2017Traditional and current restoration strategies use top- down approach that rely on the use of centralised conventional generation such as hydropower plants and gas power plants to start up the network after a wide area blackout. Analysis of restoration steps is also based on AC networks with no involvement of DC schemes.

Joint Assessment and Restoration of Power Systems
2012This paper studies the joint damage assessment and recovery of the power infrastructure after a natural disaster has occurred. Earlier work in this area proposed an optimization algorithm for the recovery phase, assuming that the infrastructure damage was known precisely. This paper lifts this assumption which does not always hold in practice.
