Power system restoration challenges
IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting, 2004., 2005Summary form only given. Some of the problems encountered in the three phases of power system restoration are briefly presented. The three restoration phases are: planning for restart and reintegration of the bulk power supply, actions during system degradation for saving and retaining critical sources of power, and load restoration when the power ...

Maximum restorable load for substation during power system restoration
2009 International Conference on Sustainable Power Generation and Supply, 2009In power system reconfiguration after successful black start, the maximum restorable load that substation can pick up at one time should be given. Presently, researches about the problem usually concentrate on frequency constraint and steady-state voltage constraint.

Optimal Partition for Power System Restoration
2021 IEEE 4th International Electrical and Energy Conference (CIEEC), 2021The reasonable and scientific partitions of power system is very helpful to speed up the black-start restoration by recovering each subsystem in parallel. A new partitioning model and effective solving algorithm for parallel restoration of power grids is proposed.

Modeling Combined Cycle Power Plants for Power System Restoration Studies
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2012This paper presents a dynamical model for simulating combined cycle power plants to be used for assessing the plant behavior during large transients and for restoration procedures. The 80th dynamic order model considers the complex structure of the heat recovery steam generator and calculates the main variables that are critical during these transients.

Power system restoration in large cities
IEEE PES General Meeting, 2010This paper presents initial results of a grid restoration study carried out in the cities of Berlin and Hamburg. The objective of the study was to identify the optimal restoration strategy for the local distribution network by using only units available within the service areas. By putting the strategy into practice, partial restoration can be achieved

Asymmetry issues in power system restoration
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1999This paper is one of a series presented on behalf of the Transmission Operation Subcommittee with the intent of focusing attention on EHV asymmetry issues during restoration. Many existing EHV lines have unsymmetrical (horizontal) conductor spacing without being transposed.
