Power System and Power Plant Dynamic Simulation

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1999
Abstract The scale and complexity of the present power systems are increasing. To simulate such a system, it is necessary to model both the transmission grid and the power plant in detail. This paper presents the connection of the network simulator program MODES with the detailed model of the steam boiler.

Power system stabilizer for the Nigerian power system-design and simulation

1999 IEEE Africon. 5th Africon Conference in Africa (Cat. No.99CH36342), 2003
Component failures have been found to constitute a major source of disturbance inputs into the Nigerian power system. Consequently, conventional power system stabilizers may prove inadequate. This paper describes the design of a power system stabilizer where the reliability of critical components is made part of the design criteria.

Modelling and Simulation of Power Systems

2016
This chapter presents major modelling and simulation techniques applied in power systems research. As the smart grids will be a journey through the modern power system environment, it is vital to know how these models and techniques are applied in a traditional power grid environment and how they can make advances to realize smart grid objectives.

Simulation of an inductive coupled power transfer system

IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2016
This paper presents two methods for simulating inductive coupled power transfer. The simulations are done using finite element calculations in Comsol Multiphysics. An analytic approach that uses the filamentary method is considered in order to compare the simulation results.

Simulation of Power Flow in Croatian Power System

2007
This paper describes the basic function of power system simulation software package PowerWorld Simulator 11.0. It was used to obtain power flows in Croatian electric power system. Time step simulation options in PowerWorld were used to simulate power flows during every hour in 2005. Completely Croatian electric power system is plotted in the PowerWorld

Co-simulation of power systems, communication and controls

2014 Workshop on Modeling and Simulation of Cyber-Physical Energy Systems (MSCPES), 2014
The increase of complexity in power system applications makes it difficult to investigate research questions within one dedicated specific environment. This paper shows the coupling between continuous simulation of power systems and discrete-event based simulation of communication in combination with automation and control systems.

Simulated annealing in power systems

[Proceedings] 1992 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 2003
The author addresses the applicability of optimization by the simulated annealing method to the analysis of power systems. The theory of simulated annealing and applications to unit commitment, maintenance scheduling, and reactive power sources planning are presented.

Simulation research of CPA powered railgun system

2012 16th International Symposium on Electromagnetic Launch Technology, 2012
Compensated pulsed alternator (CPA) is considered one of the most potential pulsed power supplies for electromagnetic railguns, due to its high energy density and power density. In this paper, a co-simulation method of a CPA powered railgun system is proposed. The railgun model was constructed on the Matlab/Simulink platform.

Modelling of the Simplified Systems for a Power Plant Simulator

2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation, 2010
In the present work, the main characteristics of a Combined Cycle Full Scope Simulator for Operators´ Training (CCS) developed by the Electrical Research Institute (IIE) of Mexico are described. The simulator is installed in the National Centre for Operator’s Training and Qualification (CENAC), the capacitating entity of the Electricity Federal ...
