Virtual Reality as an Intervention for Intraoperative Anxiety and Stress in Regional Anesthesia: A Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Regional anesthesia, while offering numerous clinical advantages, can paradoxically heighten intraoperative anxiety and stress due to patients remaining conscious throughout surgical procedures. Objectives This study aimed to evaluate the impact of immersive virtual reality (VR) on intraoperative anxiety, stress markers, and patient

PSS/E Based Power System Stabilizer Tuning Tool

2020 21st International Symposium on Electrical Apparatus & Technologies (SIELA), 2020
Since their introduction, Power System Stabilizers have become widely accepted as an efficient supplementary excitation controller for extending the power transfer capability limits of the system by adding damping to the low-frequency electromechanical modes of oscillation to improve the overall system stability.

Enhanced Power System Stability by Coordinated PSS Design

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2010
A step-by-step coordinated design procedure for power system stabilisers (PSSs) and automatic voltage regulators (AVRs) in a strongly coupled system is described in this paper. It is shown that it is possible to separate the design of individual PSSs and separate the design of individual AVRs.

Improvement of Multimachine Power System Stability Using Adaptive PSS

Electric Power Components and Systems, 2002
The excitation controllers, such as automatic voltage regulator (AVR) and power system stabilizer (PSS) for improving electric power systems transient stability, have been installed on synchronous generators. A design procedure is shown for the controller parameter-tuning applying a genetic algorithm (GA).
