Accidents with power take-off mechanisms often cause very serious injuries. In this study the clinical data and circumstances of the accidents of 14 patients who suffered a power take-off accident were analysed. From a total of 38 fractures, three primary and three secondary amputations were necessary.

Power, Muscle, and Take-Off Asymmetry in Young Soccer Players [PDF]
(1) Background: The objective of the study was to check the relationship between laterality, amount of muscle mass (MM), and selected strength parameters on lower extremities and assessment of asymmetry like a result of training. (2) Methods: The screened sample consisted of soccer players (n = 65, age = 16.0 ± 1.2 years). The legs were assessed for MM,

Paper 17: Power Take-off Systems
This paper deals with power take-off systems, but not with design details of the units being driven, or of the take-off mechanisms. Shaft stresses, gear teeth, and bearing selection are covered in existing literature, and handbooks issued by various authorities give the established standards for coupling and aperture dimensions.

Concept identification for a power take-off shielding campaign. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Machinery entanglements, specifically power take-off (PTO) entanglements, are a leading cause of injuries and fatalities on farms. In order to address this life-threatening issue, a social marketing campaign is being developed to reduce barriers and emphasize motivators to shielding.
