Coordinated scheduling of electricity–heat–gas integrated energy system considering emerging energy conversion technologies

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2023
Couplings between electricity, heat, and natural gas system are deepening due to the requirement of a new energy paradigm and the development and commercialization of emerging energy conversion technologies such as heat pump (HP) and power-to-gas (P2G ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Heat transfer enhancement to a confined impinging synthetic air jet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Heat transfer to confined, un-ducted and ducted impinging synthetic air jets is investigated experimentally. The influence of ducting on the cooling performance of synthetic air jets is of particular interest.

Combined Heat and Power System Dispatch Considering Heat Transfer Characteristics of Heat Exchangers

open access: yesZhongguo dianli, 2020
The heat transfer characteristic of heat exchangers is one of the key factors affecting the optimal dispatch of combined heat and power systems. In order to optimize the dispatch of the combined heat and power systems, a three-stage heat transfer model ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

CFD Modeling of a Metal Phase Change Material Thermal Storage System for High-Temperature Heat Accumulation and Steam

open access: yesEnergies
This paper develops a novel coupled model to predict the thermal behavior of a high-temperature fast heat storage unit, integrating Power-to-Heat technology with steam generation. A phase change material (PCM) made of a ZnAl6 metal alloy is used for heat

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Thermodynamic Modeling and Analysis of the Ratio of Heat to Power Based on a Conceptual CHP System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The CHP system not only produces electrical energy, but also produces thermal energy. An extensive analysis of the CHP market reveals that one of the most important engineering characteristics is flexibility. A variable heat-to-power ratio has compelling
