Energy-Efficient Resource Allocation in Multiuser OFDM Systems with Wireless Information and Power Transfer

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper, we study the resource allocation algorithm design for multiuser orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) downlink systems with simultaneous wireless information and power transfer.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...

Analysis of Power Transfer Efficiency of Standard Integrated Circuit Immunity Test Methods

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2015
Direct power injection (DPI) and bulk current injection (BCI) methods are defined in IEC 62132-3 and IEC 62132-4 as the electromagnetic immunity test method of integrated circuits (IC).

Targeting TNBC: core–shell polycationic polyurea dendrimers with inherent anticancer activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Core–shell polycationic PURE dendrimers were tested in TNBC‐derived tumor models. Both formulations selectively targeted TNBC and effectively reduced tumor volume. PUREG4‐OEI48 suppressed tumor growth without detectable toxicity, whereas PUREG4‐OCEI24, despite showing efficacy, induced hepatic toxicity.

Effects of Resonant Coil on Power Transfer Efficiency in Wireless Power Transfer

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series
Abstract Wireless power transmission (WPT) is a rapidly growing research area due to its potential for providing high-tech solutions by transmitting power wirelessly across an air gap. However, the energy losses experienced in a reduction in WPT efficiency, where the energy transfer efficiency during the transmission process frequently ...

Establishment of a coculture system for Porphyromonas gingivalis and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma using spheroid culture and LATS inhibition

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We established a spheroid coculture system enabling viable Porphyromonas gingivalis–HNSCC interactions under normoxic conditions. Inhibition of LATS1/2 maintains tumor cells in an undifferentiated state, which may promote spheroid growth and create a more permissive environment for bacterial persistence.

Coupling-Independent Capacitive Wireless Power Transfer With One Transmitter and Multiple Receivers Using Frequency Bifurcation

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics
Capacitive wireless power transfer utilizes capacitive coupling to transfer electrical energy wirelessly. Due to the nature of the coupling, it is seen as a well-suited technique for single input multiple outputs configurations.

Continuity and boundary conditions in thermodynamics: From Carnot's efficiency to efficiencies at maximum power

open access: yes, 2015
[...] By the beginning of the 20th century, the principles of thermodynamics were summarized into the so-called four laws, which were, as it turns out, definitive negative answers to the doomed quests for perpetual motion machines.
