The Transforming Power of Ritual
The Journal of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychiatry, 2009The dreams of a patient with chronic PTSD suggested that she was engaged in an unconscious search for a ritual to address one of her traumas. As dream analysis proceeded, the ritual was imagined, thought through, and planned jointly by therapist and patient, and eventually it was performed by the patient outside of the treatment setting.

Power Transformations to Symmetry
Biometrika, 1985From author's summary: Power transformations for achieving distributional symmetry are discussed. Estimates of the transformation power are based on general measures of symmetry. They are shown to be consistent and asymptotically normal. Use of the skewness coefficient as a measure of symmetry is shown to be optimal in an important special case.
