The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Waveforms for the Massive MIMO Downlink: Amplifier Efficiency, Distortion and Performance

open access: yes, 2015
In massive MIMO, most precoders result in downlink signals that suffer from high PAR, independently of modulation order and whether single-carrier or OFDM transmission is used. The high PAR lowers the power efficiency of the base station amplifiers.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Influence of Design Parameters on Mechanical Power Losses of Helical Gear Pairs

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2009
In this study, the influence of basic design parameters and tooth surface modifications on the mechanical (friction induced) power losses of a helical gear pair is studied.

Research on alleviating nonlinear problem by data feature extraction and fusion based on DFT-spread

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2023
Coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) system is susceptible to nonlinear effects because of its intrinsic high peak-to-average ratio (PAPR). In this paper, two methods based on discrete Fourier transform spread (DFT-S) are

Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

High-power microwave optics for flexible power transmission systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
A large concave microwave mirror near the transmitter can magnify the apparent size of the Earth as seen from a phased array, and vice versa, permitting a small phased array to be coupled to a small rectenna while preserving the transmission efficiency ...

Modeling Cascading Failures in the North American Power Grid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The North American power grid is one of the most complex technological networks, and its interconnectivity allows both for long-distance power transmission and for the propagation of disturbances.

Wireless Power Transmission - A Next Generation Power Transmission System

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computer Applications, 2010
paper, we present the concept of transmitting power without using wires i.e., transmitting power as microwaves from one place to another is in order to reduce the transmission and distribution losses. This concept is known as Microwave Power transmission (MPT). We also discussed the technological developments in Wireless Power Transmission (WPT).
