Superconducting power link for power transmission and fault current limitation

open access: yesPhysica C: Superconductivity, 2001
Superconducting power links (SUPERPOLI) will offer the opportunity for low-loss power transmission of high nominal currents and fault current limitation simultaneously in a single device. This paper presents the status of European SUPERPOLI project where the long term goal is to build a GVA class, 20 kV, three-phased, 200 m long superconducting power ...

A Comprehensive Review of Auto-Reclosing Schemes in AC, DC, and Hybrid (AC/DC) Transmission Lines

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
The integration of distributed generators has changed the paradigm of modern power transmission systems. To cope with energy demands, electrical networks emphasize the efficient utilization of power transmission.

Fault classification on transmission line of 10kV rural power grid [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2015 4th International Conference on Sensors, Measurement and Intelligent Materials, 2016
This paper proposes a technique using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Back-Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) to identify the fault types on transmission line of 10kv rural power grid. The PSCAD is used to simulate fault signals. The mother wavelet daubechies4 (db4) is employed to decompose high frequency component from these signals.

Fractal Analysis of Power Grid Faults and Cross Correlation for the Faults and Meteorological Factors

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Power-grid faults pose a great threat to the economy and to social stability. In this paper, the detrended fluctuation analysis method is used to investigate the scaling properties of power grid faults and the correlation between faults and ...

Transmission Line Fault Classification of Multi-Dataset Using CatBoost Classifier

open access: yesSignals, 2022
Transmission line fault classification forms the basis of fault protection management in power systems. Because faults have adverse effects on transmission lines, adequate measures must be implemented to avoid power outages.

Arcing Faults Location Methods for Power Transmission Lines

open access: yesActa Energetica, 2014
This paper presents three different fault location approaches: one-end Takagi algorithm, two-end algorithm considering natural fault loops and neural network. It is assumed that three-phase voltages and currents from both ends of the line measured asynchronously are the input signals of the fault locator.

Evaluation of Burst Failure Robustness of Control Systems in the Fog [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
This paper investigates the robustness of control systems when a controller is run in a Fog environment. Control systems in the Fog are introduced and a discussion regarding relevant faults is presented.

A supervisory control strategy for the detection and restoration of power transmission failures during peak periods using Petri nets

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
As the important infrastructure of power transmission systems, the power transmission lines are vulnerable during the peak power transmission periods. They usually meet many faults that may cause large area blackouts because of heavy loads.
