Using local sandstone as a pozzolana

Could sandstone waste from phosphate ore mining in Egypt's Western Desert be an effective and economic additive to ordinary Portland cement? Simpler tests for lime-pozzolanas

Lime-pozzolana mixtures could be a useful alternative to costly cements for many developing countries, but evaluating local samples can be a problem. This article describes simple tests with 25 mm cubes cast in gang moulds which can easily be carried out in the field and which give a good correlation with the results of medium-term strength tests.
