Pozzolana and Pozzolanic Cements—A Review Part I: Pozzolana

Transactions of the Indian Ceramic Society, 1981
In this review, different types of pozzolanas, their activity in relation to different factors, various methods for evaluation of their reactivity and their hydration etc have been discussed. Some of the important parameters by which the reactivity of a pozzolana is influenced have been stated to be microstructure, temperature of calcination and ...

Estimation of pozzolana content in Portland pozzolana cement

Cement and Concrete Research, 1983
Abstract A simple and rapid method based on cold and dilute hydrochloric acid has been developed to determine pozzolana content in Portland pozzolana cements (PPC). The method is applicable to different types of pozzolana even in the absence of original samples of ingredients used in the production of PPC. A 5% (v/v) solution of HCl (sp. gr.

Pozzolana from bauxite waste

Conservation & Recycling, 1978
Abstract Preliminary investigations into the utilization of bauxite waste has shown that with a suitable heat-treatment followed by ball-milling to cement fineness, a material with pozzolanic activity, referred to as bauxite pozzolana, can be produced.

Cementitious mortars containing pozzolana under elevated temperatures

Structural Concrete, 2022
AbstractIn recent years, pozzolana are being increasingly used in different types of concretes and mortars. This investigation aims to evaluate the effect of replacing 7, 14, 21, and 28% cement (by weight) with silica fume (SF), granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS), zeolite, and fly ash (FA) under elevated temperatures.

Pozzolanas and Pozzolanic Materials

2019
Developments in concrete construction mean that there are now a broader range of cementitious materials, than have traditionally been available, providing options for engineers to meet specific technical requirements. Pozzolanas and pozzolanic materials from natural deposits or industrial processes represent a group within this category.

Simpler tests for lime-pozzolanas

Batiment International, Building Research and Practice, 1981
Lime-pozzolana mixtures could be a useful alternative to costly cements for many developing countries, but evaluating local samples can be a problem. This article describes simple tests with 25 mm cubes cast in gang moulds which can easily be carried out in the field and which give a good correlation with the results of medium-term strength tests.
