Properties of Omani artificial pozzolana (sarooj)
Applied Clay Science, 1998Artificial pozzolana (sarooj) has been used in Oman in various engineering structures for hundreds of years but its use is now limited to the restoration of castles and forts. This paper reports on the status of a major research project on Omani sarooj being undertaken at Sultan Qaboos University.

Using local sandstone as a pozzolana
Batiment International, Building Research and Practice, 1981Could sandstone waste from phosphate ore mining in Egypt's Western Desert be an effective and economic additive to ordinary Portland cement? The question led to experiments from which it appears that a 15 per cent addition of the gluconitic sandstone involved has little effect on compressive strength.

Strength Characteristics of Bauxite Pozzolana Concrete
Journal of the Construction Division, 1978Bauxite is currently mined in Ghana on a commercial basis. Beneficiation of the ore is undertaken before it is exported and during the beneficiation process significant amount of the ore estimated at between 20% and 25% are washed away as red mud. The red mud is dumped into large ponds where it is left to dry.

Production of Portland Pozzolana Cement from Rice Husk Ash
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2020This study investigates the compressive strengths of mortar prisms of Portland pozzolana cement (PPC) samples prepared with 6.67-20.00% compositions of rice husk ash (RHA) as the pozzolanic constituents. CEN standard sand–cement, and pit sand-cement mortar prisms were separately prepared using cement-sand blend ratio 1:3.

Determination of pozzolana content in portland pozzolana cement (PPC) by the hydrochloric acid extraction technique has been already investigated. In the existing methods the varying degree of dissolution of pozzolana contents causes its over- or underestimation. This could be eliminated by using dilute hydrochloric acid (0.4 M) of known volume. In the

Lime mortar with natural pozzolana
2008The paper deals with the investigation of the mechanical behavior of lime mortar enriched with natural pozzolana, widely used in historical masonry. The study aims to investigate the mechanical behavior of natural pozzolana lime mortars, reproduced in laboratory by using different mix designs, as reported in historical Italian architectural treatises ...

Hygric Properties of HPC with Natural Pozzolana
Key Engineering Materials, 2016The water vapour transport and the liquid water transport of high performance concrete (HPC) with the content of natural pozzolana are the described in this paper. Studied properties are presented by means of water vapour diffusion coefficient, water vapour diffusion resistance factor and absorption coefficient respectively. The natural pozzolana (NP),

Hydration of C3S-pozzolana paste estimated by trimethylsilylation
Cement and Concrete Research, 1981Abstract The structure, quantity and the degree of polycondensation of silicate ion in C 3 S-pozzolana pastes were examined and discussed in relation to the strenght and the rate of hydration of C 3 S and pozzolana. Gel permeation chromatography was adopted to prepare the standard pure sample for the calibration curves and to determine the ...

Production of Clay Pozzolana by Fluidized Bed Technique
Transactions of the Indian Ceramic Society, 1978Applying the principles of fluidization, a counter current fluidized bed calciner was designed for heat activation of clays and a pilot plant of capacity of 2 tonnes per day was set up at the Sri Ram Institute for Industrial Research. The pilot plant studies revealed that the fluidized bed technique could be effectively used for production of clay ...
