Pozzolanic activity of Hwangtoh clay

Construction and Building Materials, 2010
Abstract Hwangtoh is a clay that has long been used as a traditional Korean building material. In these days, Hwangtoh is often used for plastering and flooring in newly constructed buildings to minimize sick building syndrome. In such applications, it is useful to determine whether the clay has pozzolanic properties. In this research, the pozzolanic

The measurement of pozzolanic activity

Cement and Concrete Research, 1977
Abstract Some comments are made on the applicability of the hydrofluoric acid method for determining pozzolanic activity. It is pointed out that in addition to silica some other constituents of pozzolanic materials such as pfa are also soluble in HF and the conductance of the solution may, therefore, not be directly relatable to the active silica ...

Pozzolanic activity of silica dust

Cement and Concrete Research, 1979
Abstract Highly reactive aggregates and unusually alkali-rich cement call for special precautions in connection with concrete making in Iceland. Search in the past for efficient ways to counteract alkali-aggregate reactions is cited. High hopes are now connected with the pozzolanic use of silica fume from a ferrosilicon plant now under erection.

Pozzolanic activity tests as a measure of pozzolans' performance. Part 1

Magazine of Concrete Research, 2007
The current methodologies used for the selection and classification of pozzolans present certain chemical and physical requirements that may restrict their use. A good example of this is the use of the pozzolanic activity index as the main parameter in the selection and classification of pozzolans. This is determined by several different methodologies

Pozzolanic activity tests as a measure of pozzolans' performance. Part 2

Magazine of Concrete Research, 2007
Part 1 of the current paper demonstrated the lack of agreement between the results obtained from different standard pozzolanic activity tests. This can be explained by the significant differences observed in the recommended test procedures that, in some cases, allow variations in parameters which have a remarkable influence on the pozzolanic reaction.

Evaluation of pozzolanic activity of natural and artificial pozzolans by thermal analysis

Thermochimica Acta, 2004
Abstract In this research, the pozzolanic activity of natural and artificial pozzolan used for preparation of restoration mortars was evaluated. For this purpose, several pastes were prepared, by mixing two artificial pozzolans and a natural one with commercial hydrated lime, in different ratios. The pastes were cured in standard conditions (RH = 98%,

Pozzolanic activity of calcined moler clay

Cement and Concrete Research, 1990
Abstract In order to investigate the possibility of using an industrial by-product of calcined Moler from the production of Moler bricks as a pozzolan in cement and concrete, a number of tests were carried out to establish the pozzolanic properties.

Pozzolanic activity of pulverized fuel ash

Cement and Concrete Research, 1975
Abstract The pozzolanic activity of pulverized fuel ash (p.f.a.) has been determined by measuring the rate of dissolution of silica from p.f.a. in 0.1 M hydrofluoric acid. The rate of extraction of silica follows a logarithmic law and the rate constant is an index of the pozzolanic activity of the ash.

Pozzolanic activity and hydration properties of feldspar after mechanical activation

Powder Technology, 2021
Abstract The pozzolanic activity and hydration properties of feldspar after mechanical activation were studied in this paper. The research of the pozzolanic activity of the feldspar powders revealed the pozzolanic activity could be improved by mechanical activation, and it was affected by the particle size, specific surface area, crystallization ...

Reactivity of lime Activated Pozzolans

SP-202: Third Canmet/ACI International Symposium: Sustainable Development of Cement and Concrete, 2001
This paper utilizes electrical methods to follow the early hydration characteristics of a range of materials activated with calcium hydroxide at room temperature (20 degrees C). The electrical response is measured in terms of the in-phase (i.e. resistance) and quadrature (i.e. capacitance) components of the sample admittance.
