Studies about the heat of hydration developed in mortars with natural and by-product materials
The heat of hydration developed in reactions of mortars and concretes can be sensibly reduced using pozzolanic materials. However, the decrease of the heat of hydration is not directly proportional to the amount of cement substituted, because of the heat

Tratamentos térmico e químico para remoção de óxidos alcalinos de cinzas de capim elefante
Elephant grass ash (EGA) was produced at 700 °C, with two different treatments: hot water (EGAhw) or acid solution (EGAas). The efficiency of the treatments at removing the potassium oxide was evaluated with the aim of using the EGA as a pozzolanic ...

Pozzolanic activity of flint powder
It was tested whether powdered flint is able to reach pozzolanic properties comparable to fly ash. The flint aggregates were crushed and milled to three different grain size fractions comparable to coal fly ash. The powdered flint was characterized and subsequently used as a substitute in mortar prisms.

Durability performance of a high‐performance fiber‐reinforced concrete for bridge applications
Abstract This paper investigates the durability performance of a coarse‐aggregate high‐performance fiber‐reinforced concrete (HPFRC) developed as a cost‐efficient material solution for precast bridge applications. A comprehensive experimental program was conducted to assess the resistance of the material to the principal deterioration mechanisms ...
