Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.

Design of Fission Chamber Pulse Pre-amplifier
Fission chambers are installed in the measurement channels within the reactor and the signals are transmitted via inorganic and organic cables. They can be used for monitoring the neutron flux of the reactor from startup to full power operation.

Nutritional Status Assessment During the Phase IIA and Phase III Lunar/Mars Life Support Test Project [PDF]
Nutrition is a critical concern for extended-duration space missions (Smith and Lane, 1999). Loss of body weight is a primary consequence of altered nutrition, and is frequently observed during space flight (Smith and Lane; 1999).

This paper presents a novel approach to reducing oxide layers on metal powders using low‐temperature hydrogen dielectric barrier discharge plasmas at atmospheric pressure. Unlike conventional hydrogen‐plasma reductions, the powders do not contact the plasma directly.

Cermets (60 vol.% AISI 316L stainless steel, 40 vol.% recycled MgO), intended for use in aluminum electrolysis, were pre‐oxidized in three furnaces with different heating technologies and subjected to a cryolite corrosion test. The different atmospheres influenced the formation of oxide layers, which in turn affected corrosion resistance and ...

Pressure-induced Insulator to Metal Transition of Mixed Valence Compound Ce(O,F)SbS$_{2}$
Transport properties of Ce$_{0.85}$F0.15SbS$_{2}$ and undoped CeOSbS$_{2}$ under high pressure were investigated experimentally and theoretically. Electrical resistivity measurements of the Ce$_{0.85}$F0.15SbS$_{2}$ single crystals were performed under ...

Vacuum chamber considerations for improved organic light-emitting diode lifetime
We investigated the influence of vacuum chamber impurities on the lifetime of highly efficient TADF-based OLEDs. Batch-to-batch lifetime variations are clearly correlated with the results of contact angle measurements, which reflect the amount of ...
