Sorghum tolerance and weed control with amicarbazone and metribuzin applied preemergence

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Groundwater contamination has prompted the Environmental Protection Agency to consider restricting atrazine use, highlighting the need for alternative preemergence herbicides in grain sorghum (Sorghum Moench). Research was conducted in 2023 and 2024 to evaluate grain sorghum tolerance and weed control from preemergence applications of ...

Effects of uncrewed aerial vehicle–applied triclopyr plus fluroxypyr rates on weeds and desirable forbs in Kansas tallgrass prairie

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract We studied the impacts of uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV)‐applied triclopyr + fluroxypyr on rangeland weeds and other forbs in native tallgrass prairie. Two rates were tested: high (0.63 kg ae ha−1 triclopyr + 0.21 kg ae ha−1 fluroxypyr) and low (0.21 kg ae ha−1 triclopyr + 0.07 kg ae ha−1 fluroxypyr).

A comparison of four cover crop species interseeded into early‐season corn using broadcast and high‐clearance drill seeding methods in Ohio

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Cover cropping provides central US corn (Zea mays L.) growers tools for controlling erosion, suppressing weeds, and managing nutrients. Cover crop establishment timing is a key limitation for the adoption of cover crops. Recent early‐establishment efforts have included aerial broadcasting and the use of high‐clearance drills.

Insights from a two‐decade study of crop rotation and biocover impact on yield in no‐till corn

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 5, September/October 2026.
Abstract Crop rotation and cover crop (biocover) management can improve the productivity and yield stability of no‐till corn, yet long‐term evidence for humid subtropical silt loams remains limited. This study evaluated corn (Zea mays L.) grain yield across a 20‐year period (2002–2021) under varying crop sequences and biocovers at two Tennessee ...

Evaluating camelina genotypes for improved nitrogen use efficiency and yield with reduced nitrogen

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 5, September/October 2026.
Abstract Camelina (Camelina sativa L.) is a promising bioenergy crop with wide environmental adaptation, but nitrogen (N) requirements affect the sustainable production. Sixteen camelina genotypes were planted in 3 years in Sideny, MT at high and low N levels to evaluate nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) and yield in response to soil N.
