Electric Effects on the Pre-Mixing Process in DBD Assisted Combustions
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014A method of pre-mixing process augmentation for fuel combustion using dielectric barrier discharges (DBD) is presented. The mixing process of fuel and air can be augmented by the edge electric field of the electrodes because its transverse component will exert an electric force on the charge particles generated by DBD.

Possibility of low-NOx and high-load combustion in pre-mixed gases
Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1985This paper describes a study on the possibility of low-NO x and high-load combustion, especially in pre-mixed gases. In spark-ignition engines, for example, high-load combustion is performed by using stoichiometric to best-power mixtures. Combustion of such mixtures commonly produces high-NO x exhaust emission leading to air pollution, unless a ...

Experimental results from an isothermal laminar flow reactor at atmospheric pressure are presented on the chemical composition in the post-oxidative region of two sooting fuel-rich pre-mixed mixtures diluted in nitrogen. A base case composed of n-heptane and O2 in N2 at 1425 K with a C/O of 2.85 was perturbed by substituting 10% of the carbon in n ...

Combustion and Explosion Characteristics of Non-premixed and Partially Pre-mixed Mixtures
2011Two significantly different fuel and oxidizer forms are considered while analyzing potentially combustible systems: pre-mixed and non-premixed mixtures. The previous chapters are devoted to combustion modes in pre-mixed mixtures.

Investigating Pre-Mixed Charge Compression Ignition Combustion in a High Compression Ratio Engine
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2018<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Utilizing a higher compression ratio in a Compression Ignition (CI) engine grants an obvious advantage of improved thermal efficiency. However, the resulting combustion temperatures promote dissociation ensuing in increased nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions ...

Partial Pre-Mixed Combustion with Cooled and Uncooled EGR in a Heavy-Duty Diesel Engine
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2002<div class="htmlview paragraph">An experimental investigation of the effects of partial premixed charge compression ignition (PCCI) combustion and EGR temperature was conducted on a Caterpillar C-12 heavy-duty diesel engine (HDDE). The addition of EGR and PCCI combustion resulted in significant NOx reductions over the AVL 8-

Flow and Combustion Characteristic in an Array of Multiple Pre-Mixed Methane/Air Flame Jets
Transactions of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers B, 2007This study was conducted to investigate the flow and combustion characteristic of the experimental burner which was manufactured for the reflection of the oven and broil burner features. As slot shape, spacing between slots, and slot arrangement of the exit area which emits the mixing gas are different in case of oven burners and broil turners, the ...
