Hepatitis E Virus Infection in Swiss Transplant Recipients: Seroprevalence, Incidence, and the Role of Transfused Blood Products

HEV epidemiology in solid organ (SOT) and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell (allo‐HSCT) transplant recipients in Switzerland between 2010 and 2017. HEV RNA incidence is more than 20‐fold higher in the transplant cohort than in Swiss blood donors. Although most infections were likely of dietary origin, one transfusion‐transmitted HEV case was detected.
