Effect of pre-stressed cable on pre-stressed mega-braced steel frame

Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 2016
This study addresses the effect of pre-stressed cables on a pre-stressed mega-braced steel frame through employing static analysis and pushover analysis. The performances of a pre-stressed mega-braced steel frame and a pure steel frame without mega-braces are compared in terms of base shear, ductility, and failure mode.

ACOUSTIC EMISSION MONITORING OF PRE-STRESSED CONCRETE BEAMS DURING ACCELERATED CORROSION OF PRE-STRESSING TENDONS

Proceedings of the 14th International Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring, 2023
Acoustic sensors attached to pre-stressed/post-tensioned bridges are promising tools for monitoring the progression of corrosion damage in pre-stressing/post-tensioning tendons. In this study, acoustic emission signals from a pre-stressed beam containing three pre-stressed tendons that were exposed to accelerated corrosion conditions were studied.

Reflection and transmission in pre-stressed stratified multilayers

Acta Mechanica, 2002
This study is devoted to waves in multylayer anisotropic prestressed solid media. The cell of the medium is a slab within which the material properties vary continuously, whereas at the slab interfaces the material properties can suffer a jump. The field in each slab is derived, and all fields are put together via an integral equation including the ...

Experimental Study of Pre-Stress Loss of Steel Structure Strengthened with Pre-Stressed CFRP Strips

International Conference on Transportation Engineering 2009, 2009
This paper focuses on the experimental study on the pre-stress losses of pre-stressing carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) plates bonded on damaged steel structures. Both pre-tensioned and post-tensioned members are theoretically and experimentally analyzed.

Pre-stressing a Tonpilz transducer

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1995
Tonpilz transducers have a center bolt to prevent the ceramic being subjected to a tensile stress during part of the alternating stress cycle. Two points in the transducer design are analyzed; one is the calculation of the peak stress (the method presented used the voltage applied to the ceramic during the transmitter pulse, and measured values of the ...

Remaining Pre-Stress Identification of Diseased Pre-Stressed Concrete Bridges Based on Neural Network

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
According to experimental record of bridges in use, more and more damage bridges have appeared, and the most common and severe defect is the bridge damage and cracking problem, which has seriously affected the normal usage of bridges. Analyzing the disease cause of defective bridges more effectively and deeply, in order to optimize the design and ...

BOND IN PRE-STRESSED CONCRETE.

Journal of the Institution of Civil Engineers, 1949
Synopsis. Existing literature on pre-stressed concrete failed to provide sufficient information on certain points which, basically, me dependent on the bond in pre-stressed concrete. Experiments were carried out, therefore, to investigate those points by further examination of the subject of the pre-stressed-concrete bond; those experiments are ...

Assessment of Pre‐Stress Losses in Instrumented Pre‐Stressed Concrete Beams Using Stochastic Analysis

Strain, 2011
Abstract:  In this study, stochastic analyses of pre‐stress losses in two pre‐stressed concrete beams are carried out, and the results of the analyses are compared with those obtained from the laboratory experimental investigations. The deterministic models given in ACI 209 (with modelling error) are used for predicting the pre‐stress losses.
