A Bandwidth-Adaptive Preamplifier

IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, 2013
We propose an adaptive microphone preamplifier that adjusts its power consumption according to the input signal's bandwidth. A chip prototype of the adaptive preamplifier for speech processing was fabricated in a 0.5-μm CMOS process. The adaptive preamplifier's measured input referred noise is 3 μV rms and its total harmonic distortion is -40 dBc for ...

Biopotential Integrated Preamplifier

2020 IEEE 11th Latin American Symposium on Circuits & Systems (LASCAS), 2020
This work presents a novel amplifier architecture which is the input stage of an analog front end targeting the acquisition of biological signals with low voltage supply, low noise, and low power consumption. A prototype was designed and fabricated in a 130 nm CMOS technology, and characterized by simulations and preliminary measurements.

A CMOS preamplifier for electret microphones

Proceedings of ISCAS'95 - International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002
In this paper a CMOS preamplifier for capacitive sources is presented. The 20 dB gain preamplifier achieves a dynamic range of 54 dB while the total harmonic distortion is below -50 dB. Monte Carlo analyses have shown output random offset voltages below 40 mvolts. The power consumption of the proposed preamplifier is 24 /spl mu/watts. All this has been

Noise in distributed MESFET preamplifiers

IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, 1996
The theory of noise in a distributed MESFET preamplifier is developed. From this, it is shown that the equivalent input noise current density of a distributed preamplifier of an optical receiver can be improved by using large gate line matching impedance and appropriate scaling of the MESFET width.

Evaluation of a Novel EEG Preamplifier

Journal of Clinical Neurophysiology, 2006
The authors performed initial clinical testing of a novel EEG transduction module (ETM), designed to record EEG signals from electrodes with high and unbalanced contact impedances. Twenty patients underwent two consecutive EEG studies. In the first, "experimental" study, electrodes were applied to an unprepared scalp, and the ETM performed initial ...

A preamplifier for magnetostriction spark chambers

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1970
Abstract The specifications of a non overloading preamplifier for magnetostriction spark chambers are described in detail. The design of the preamplifier that has been developed is discussed. Its characteristics are: gain of 1300, risetime of 80 nsec, equivalent input noise of 10 μV r.m.s.
