Recent Results on the Optoelectronic Feedback Preamplifier [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1970
A brief description of the optoelectronic feedback system is followed by an account of some interesting aspects of low-noise preamplifiers and detectors revealed by this work. These include the following items: 1. The observation of hole collection at the gate of a FET analogous to ion collection at the grid of a vacuum tube. 2.

Electrically Tunable Piezotronic Transistor by Coupling Interface Polar Symmetry and Strain Gradient

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A macroscale tip‐induced strain gradient generates bulk piezo‐charges in GaN, enabling bias‐controlled shielding and selective Schottky barrier modulation. This strain‐gradient piezotronic transistor exhibits electrically switchable high‐ and low‐sensitivity states, providing ultrahigh strain sensitivity and wide tunability for adaptive mechanical ...

Influence of Top Electrode Metal on Resistive Switching in Multilayer MOCVD MoS2 Memristors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
MoS2 memristors typically use evaporated noble metal electrodes. This study compares Pd, Ni, and Al electrodes and sputtered versus evaporated deposition. Pd is passive, while Ni damages MoS2, yielding poor switching. Sputtered Al enables reproducible ECM‐type switching with 95% yield, whereas evaporated Al forms an interfacial oxide that suppresses ...

Enhanced Synthesis of Cs2AgBiBr6 Single Crystals via Controlled Cooling for Enhanced Dual‐Band Light Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a dual‐band photodetector based on the large‐scale, precise synthesis of Cs2AgBiBr6 single crystals. A rapid and efficient synthesis method is demonstrated, yielding high‐quality Cs2AgBiBr6 crystals with an average size of 2 × 2 × 1.5 mm3 and a production yield of 12.66%.

Ultrathin Aluminum–Air Batteries via Hygroscopic Electrolytes for Continuous Operation of Imperceptible On‐Skin Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents ultrathin, high‐capacity aluminum‐air batteries (AABs) for self‐sustaining, skin‐conformal electronics. By utilizing ambient moisture and oxygen alongside a LiCl‐based hygroscopic hydrogel electrolyte, the design significantly reduces battery thickness while preventing dehydration and Al self‐corrosion.

Valve vs. solid-state microphone preamplifier: a comparative study

open access: yesFields, 2017
This paper outlines research carried out to determine the perceptual and objective differences between a solid-state and a valve preamplifier running at low voltages. ABX testing was employed and showed that there were perceivable differences between the

Shear behavior of bolt–grout interfaces under constant normal stiffness: Influence of grout strength and thickness

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The effects of grout strength and thickness on the shear behavior of bolt–grout interfaces (BGI) under constant normal stiffness conditions are investigated. Shear strength, failure modes, and acoustic emission characteristics are examined. The findings reveal that grout strength exerts a significantly greater influence on BGI shear strength and ...

Compact laser amplifier with high gain based on Nd3+-doped SrF2 crystal

open access: yesHigh Power Laser Science and Engineering
High gain greater than 106 is crucial for the preamplifiers of joule-class high-energy lasers. In this work, we present a specially designed compact amplifier using 0.5%Nd,5%Gd:SrF2 and 0.5%Nd,5%Y:SrF2 crystals.

Thermal‐induced fracture evolution and acoustic signature of Beishan granite: Insights into tensile strength of barrier system for high‐level radioactive waste disposal

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The tensile strength of granite, a proposed host for nuclear waste, degrades severely above 400°C. We link this to specific microcracking patterns captured by acoustic emission, establishing a scientific basis for assessing repository safety under thermal load.
