Conveying the Importance of the Preanalytical Phase
Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine, 2003Preanalytical issues do not readily lend themselves to systematic teaching and the approach to teaching must be modified for each of the populations who require such education. The populations to be educated include patients, nurses, medical students and physicians. The different approaches that we have tried, and continue to use are described.

A Scoping Review of Interventions to Prevent Lost Surgical Specimens in the Preanalytical Phase.
AORN JournalSpecimen management is inherently complex. Although rare, lost surgical specimens indicate failure to meet patient safety expectations. Thirteen pieces of evidence were examined through a scoping review to investigate lost surgical specimens during the ...

The significance of preanalytical phase in immunohematology testing

[Pitfalls and challenges of the preanalytical phase in hematology].
Therapeutische Umschau. Revue therapeutique, 2013In the last few decades we have seen a significant decrease in the rates of analytical errors in clinical laboratories. The test performances have improved, new parameters have been introduced, as well as internal and external quality controls have been used for the monitoring of accuracy.
