Tribological behavior of ZK60Gd alloy reinforced by SiC particles after precipitation hardening

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys, 2023
In this research, the effect of precipitation hardening on the tribological behavior of the ZK60Gd/SiC composite was studied. For this purpose, ZK60Gd alloy containing with 5 and 10 wt% SiC were produced with stir casting method.

Hundred years of precipitation hardening

Journal of Light Metals, 2001
Abstract About 100 years ago, precipitation hardening was discovered and the first structural aluminum alloys with considerable strength were developed. Our present understanding of the phenomenon in based on the application of dislocation theory as well as reaction kinetics, especially the role of metastable phases and lattice defects in nucleation ...

Origin of double-peak precipitation hardening in metallic alloys [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Plasticity, 2018
Whereas conventional precipitation hardening is well-known to feature a single hardness peak, recently, double-peak precipitation hardening was observed, where the first peak hardness is higher than the second conventional one, thus offering a new ...

Precipitation hardening effects on extension twinning in magnesium alloys [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Plasticity, 2018
Precipitation is an efficient method to strengthen metallic materials. While precipitation hardening effects on dislocation slip have been studied extensively in the past, the influence of precipitates on twinning mediated plasticity and the development ...
