Kinematic Precise Orbit Determination for Gravity Field Determination

2005
In this paper we first present approaches and results in precise orbit determination (POD) for satellitesin Low Earth Orbit (LEO) based on one or two frequency GPS measurements and, secondly, we focus on the relations between kinematic POD and gravity field determination.

Precise Orbit Determination Using Satellite Radar Ranging

Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 2012
Precise orbit determination can be achieved using only range measurements (no angle measurements) collected from several radars in a regional network. As uncompensated range biases are comparable to Global Positioning System pseudorange errors, 1 position and velocity errors smaller than 10 m and 1 cm=s are possible.

Precision orbit determination performance for CryoSat-2

Advances in Space Research, 2018
Abstract In this paper we discuss our efforts to perform precision orbit determination (POD) of CryoSat-2 which depends on Doppler and satellite laser ranging tracking data. A dynamic orbit model is set-up and the residuals between the model and the tracking data is evaluated. The average r.m.s. of the 10 s averaged Doppler tracking pass residuals is

Precise orbit determination for the maneuvering satellites

Routine and occasional/emergency orbital maneuvers are essential for many satellites to maintain their optimal trajectory and to achieve a wide range of operational objectives in a continuous way. However, incorrectly modelled highly dynamic changes of the orbit during maneuvers can significantly reduce the accuracy of precise orbit determination (POD)
