Two identities for Poisson Point Processes and Voronoi Tessellations with Applications [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this paper, we introduce two identities one pertaining to the state space of Poisson Point Processes (PPPs), and the other for the Voronoi tessellations formed by PPPs. Then, we explore several applications of these identities within the context of wireless cellular networks.

Quantitative susceptibility mapping in magnetically inhomogeneous tissues

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Conventional quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) methods rely on simplified physical models that assume isotropic and homogeneous tissue properties, leading to artifacts and inaccuracies in biological tissues. This study aims to develop and evaluate DEEPOLE, a deep learning–based method that incorporates macroscopically ...

Unearthing the impact of earthquakes: A review of economic and social consequences

open access: yesJournal of Policy Analysis and Management, EarlyView.
Abstract The purpose of this paper is to offer a comprehensive overview of the socioeconomic effects of earthquakes. We begin with a thorough literature review. Following this, we assess policy measures taken in response to major earthquakes, drawing on existing research to formulate insights and recommendations that policymakers can use to effectively

Pesticide exposure of operators during mixing and loading a drone: towards a stratified exposure assessment

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Operators are exposed to concentrated formulation during mixing of pesticide into the nurse tank and to an in‐use dilution during loading the drone; stratification of exposure for mixing and loading would inform the exposure assessment approach by applying the appropriate dermal absorption considerations.

A comparison of established and digital surface model (DSM)‐based methods to determine population estimates and densities for king penguin colonies, using fixed‐wing drone and satellite imagery

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
We used fixed‐wing drones and Beyond Visual Line of Sight flying to create high‐resolution imagery and Digital Surface Models (DSMs) of six large king penguin colonies (colony population sizes ranging from 10,671 to 132,577 pairs) in South Georgia. We used a novel DSM‐based method to facilitate automated and semi‐automated counts of each colony to ...

Industrial Development, Poverty Reduction, and Inequality: A Robustness Test Using Nighttime Lights in Vietnam

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines the interplay between sectoral growth compositions, initial inequality, and poverty reduction in Vietnam during the 2000s, utilizing disaggregated provincial‐level data. The analysis focuses on the differential impacts of industrial and agricultural sector growth on poverty alleviation while also assessing the moderating ...
