Precision tests of QED

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1984
The major precision tests of QED are reviewed. At the present time, there are no serious conflicts between theory and experiment. However, there are various possibilities for refining the tests and some of them depend on better information from high energy physics experiments.

Metallic magnetic calorimeters for high precision QED tests at GSI/FAIR

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2009
The quantum electrodynamics belongs to the best tested and established theories in modern physics. However, the evaluation of high order processes, as necessary in the presence of large electric fields, is still demanding. Of particular interest in this field is the Lamb shift of highly charged, hydrogen‐like ions, as the theoretically claimed error ...

Precision energy-level measurements and QED of highly charged ions

Canadian Journal of Physics, 2009
A review is given of measurements involving the K-shell (np → 1s) transitions of hydrogenlike ions. In many experiments carried out, for example, on electron-beam ion traps and tokamaks, the calculated energies of the Lyman-series lines are utilized as calibration standards for measuring the energies of lines from more complex ions.

QED Effects in Helium and Comparisons with High Precision Experiment

Physica Scripta, 2001
A large body of work to calculate nonrelativistic energies, relativistic corrections, and quantum electrodynamic (QED) energy shifts in helium is reviewed and compared with experiment. Of particular significance are measurements of the QED (Lamb) shift for the low-lying S-states of helium, where the accuracy rivals the best measurements in the ...

High-precision ϵ-expansions of three-loop master integrals contributing to the electron g–2 in QED [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics, 2001
In this Letter we calculate at high-precision the Laurent expansions in ϵ=(4−D)/2 of the 17 master integrals which appeared in the analytical calculation of 3-loop QED contribution to the electron g–2, using difference and differential equations.

Precision measurement of relativistic and QED effects in heliumlike beryllium

Physical Review Letters, 1993
We have used fast-ion-beam laser spectroscopy to measure the 1s2s 3 S-1s2p 3 P o intervals in Be III to an absolute accuracy of 1 part in 10 8 . Our results are (in cm -1 ): σ(1s2s 3 S 1 -1s2p 3 P 0 o )= 26 864.6120(4), σ(1s2s 3 S 1 -1s2p 3 P 1 o )=26 853.0534(3), σ(1s2s 3 S 1 -1s2p 3 P 2 o ) =26 867.9484(3).

Precision measurements of relativistic and QED effects in helium-like boron

Physical Review Letters, 1991
We have made precision wavelength measurements on the 1s2s $^{3}$${\mathit{S}}_{1}$--1s2p $^{3}$${\mathit{P}}_{0,1,2}$\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} transitions in heliumlike boron using fast-beam laser excitation. These measurements are accurate to 2 parts in ${10}^{7}$ of the transition energy and test the most recent calculations at a level of ...
