Selective preconcentration by temperature manipulation of cascaded micro preconcentrators

TRANSDUCERS 2009 - 2009 International Solid-State Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems Conference, 2009
This article presents a new method for selective preconcentration of target species and the elimination of unwanted ones from a sample mixture. In this approach, the temperature and flow direction of two microfabricated preconcentrators connected in series are controlled according to the boiling points of target species.

Separation and preconcentration

Fresenius' Zeitschrift fr Analytische Chemie, 1973
A general review is given on separation and pre-concentration methods. Among the various procedures especially chromatography and ion-exchange for separation, and absorption and extraction for preconcentration are discussed in detail.

Preconcentration of contaminants in water analysis

Journal of Chromatography A, 2000
Among the environmental areas, in this review attention will be focused on water matrices and both on organic (e.g., pesticides, herbicides, phenols, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), inorganic species and anion pollutants, since these kinds of substances include a wide number of compounds with different physical and chemical properties and different ...

Electrolytic preconcentration in instrumental analysis

Talanta, 1986
The use of electrolytic deposition as a separation and preconcentration step in trace metal analysis is reviewed. Both the principles and applications of the technique are dealt with in some detail. Electrolytic preconcentration can be combined with a variety of instrumental techniques.

An instrumental method of solution preconcentration

Talanta, 1981
Aerosol concentration before atomic-absorption measurement is achieved by use of an electrostatic trapping technique. The effects of various experimental parameters are examined, including those of voltage, trap dimensions, gas flow-rate through the trap and trapping time. It is concluded that the technique offers an inherently clean method of solution

Aerosol preconcentration on a liquid electrode

Talanta, 1981
Electrostatic preconcentration of a dried aerosol is achieved with a water electrode. The system is found to show similar trapping characteristics to those given by wire electrodes, but the subsequent introduction of collected material into a flame atomizer is easier, merely requiring aspiration of the electrode solution after the trapping cycle is ...

Preconcentration of Anions

1996
Despite the great strides forward in analytical instrumentation that have been made in the last decade, the analyst working in the fields of potable water analysis and environmental analysis of non-saline and saline waters finds that, frequently, the equipment has insufficient sensitivity to be able to detect the low concentrations of substances ...

Development of a nanofluidic preconcentrator with precise sample positioning and multi-channel preconcentration

Microfluidics and Nanofluidics, 2012
A nanofluidic preconcentrator with the capability of rapidly preconcentrating and precisely positioning protein bands in multiple microchannels has been developed for highly sensitive detection of biomolecules. A novel electrical resistive network model is developed to guide the design of the nanofluidic preconcentrator which consists of a PDMS slab ...

Epitachophoretic preconcentration of proteins

2021
In this work, we present a developed method for preconcentration of standards of proteins cytochrome c, myoglobin, and hemoglobin. Firstly, the electrolyte system was selected and optimized to provide low analysis time, narrow shape of the protein zone, and eliminate overheating at the center of the device.
