Investigation on the preconcentration of trace elements on polyacrylonitrile

Fresenius' Journal of Analytical Chemistry, 1991
Trace amounts of Co, Ni, and Mn have been enriched from aqueous solutions by retention of their ions on polyacrylonitrile (PAN). The recovery has been determined as a function of the amount of PAN, pH, the concentration of eluent (HCl) and the volume of sample solution. The elements were removed with 100% efficiency by means of conc. HCl.

Strategy for On-Line Preconcentration in Chromatographic Separations

Analytical Chemistry, 2001
In chromatographic separations, the heights of peaks are proportional to the concentrations of sample components present in an injected mixture. In general, an increase in the peak height cannot be achieved by simply increasing the injection time or the sample plug length. An exception occurs if some form of on-line preconcentration is possible.

A novel method for the filterless preconcentration of iron

The Analyst, 2005
A novel method of analysis of iron by filterless preconcentration is presented. This is the first example of efficient preconcentration of a refractory transition metal where coprecipitation and columns were omitted. The method applies a manifold of flow injection analysis (FIA) to iron species that are preconcentrated on the inner walls of a tubular ...

Preconcentration of gaseous organic pollutants in the atmosphere

Talanta, 1988
Three basic methods of preconcentration of organic atmospheric pollutants, viz. by cold trap, absorption in solutions and adsorption on solids at ambient temperature, and methods of liberating the trapped components, are discussed. Adsorption on solids is becoming more widely employed because of its advantages, and selection of the most appropriate ...

Demystifying preconception of preconcentration

2020
At a time when the industry is faced with declining head grades, increasing operating costs, and problems associated with water and energy supply, pre‐concentration offers hope. Pre‐concentration can improve resource efficiency by removing gangue early in the process before energy intensive and expensive comminution and beneficiation processes.
