From nature to nanoscale: advances, challenges, and preclinical translation of nanofiber drug delivery systems containing plant‐derived active ingredients

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Since the early 1960s, nanotechnology has been a critical area of science, allowing for the development of sophisticated nanomaterials. Nanofibers, one of the most widely used nanotechnological drug delivery systems, have emerged as a highly versatile platform within modern pharmaceutical sciences.

Living on the edge: Habitat characteristics of northern myotis at the periphery of its distribution

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
Northern myotis selected tall trees with minimal decay, in patches with other roosting options. In our study area, these trees occurred in narrow bands within an agricultural matrix, differing from contiguous forest at the core of the species' distribution. Nevertheless, bats selected the tallest trees in the densest patches available.

Cutting through the noise: What can habitat selection modeling teach us about caribou‐fire space use dynamics?

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
We synthesize the current knowledge regarding caribou habitat selection in relation to wildfires. Caribou responses to recent burns were generally weak and highly variable across subspecies or ecotypes, suggesting that post‐fire habitat selection is likely context‐dependent and the need for regionally adapted habitat management strategies.

Modeling effects of environmental conditions and hunter activity on Montezuma quail harvest in Arizona

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
Models of spatiotemporal variation in hunter harvest show that monsoon precipitation and changes in hunter behavior and composition are the primary drivers underlying variation in annual harvest of Montezuma quail. The demographic structure of the previous year's harvest was also strongly associated with the magnitude and rate of annual harvest ...

Predator-associated cues modify prey behaviour but not predator encounter dynamics in Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Tetranychidae)

open access: yesPersian Journal of Acarology
Predator-associated cues can induce behavioural and life-history changes in prey without direct predator–prey interactions, yet whether these responses reduce subsequent predation risk remains poorly understood.

Seasonal Dynamics of Soil Multitrophic Biodiversity, Co‐Occurrence Network and Assembly Mechanisms Under Typical Vegetation Restoration Patterns in Karst Region

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Previous studies often overlooked the dynamic effects of karst vegetation restoration on soil multi‐trophic biodiversity and the underlying community‐assembly mechanisms. To fill this gap, we performed a seasonal comparative analysis of soil biodiversity, co‐occurrence network architecture, and assembly processes across three representative ...

Long‐Term Legacy of Exotic Pioneers: Over Two Decades of Biodiversity Monitoring Reveals Constrained Succession in a Restored Sanitary Landfill

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Long‐term ecological studies are critical for evaluating restoration strategies on challenging sites, such as closed landfills. This study presents a 23‐year biodiversity monitoring program (2000–2023) at the restored Southeast New Territories sanitary landfill in Hong Kong.

Nonconstant Positive Steady States for a Predator–Prey System With Signal‐Dependent Diffusion

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper investigates a highly nonlinear predator–prey reaction–diffusion system featuring signal‐dependent prey diffusion, where the motility of the prey is modulated by a chemical signal released by predators. For unbounded functional responses, we establish the global‐in‐time existence and uniform‐in‐time boundedness of classical ...

Ion Activation Methods for Top‐Down Proteomics

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mass spectrometry (MS) has emerged as a premier method used to characterize the sequences of proteins. Top‐down proteomics aims to capture the multiple sources of structural diversity reflected in proteins, such as those that arise from alternative RNA splicing events or the addition of post‐translational modifications. Tandem MS (i.e., MS/MS)
