Sequential Predation: A Multi-model Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
In many ecosystems food resources are available sequentially. The paper analyses a situation with two competing prey species both of which are consumed by a common predator species.

A two-patch prey-predator model with predator dispersal driven by the predation strength

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering, 2017
Foraging movements of predator play an important role in population dynamics of prey-predator systems, which have been considered as mechanisms that contribute to spatial self-organization of prey and predator.

Numerical convergence of a Telegraph Predator-Prey system

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Exatas e Tecnológicas, 2022
Numerical convergence of a Telegraph Predator-Prey system is studied. This partial differential equation (PDE) system can describe various biological systems with reactive, diffusive, and delay effects.

A piecewise deterministic model for a prey-predator community [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
International audienceWe are interested in prey-predator communities where the predator population evolves much faster than the prey's (e.g. insect-tree communities).

Spatio-temporal dynamics of a predator–prey system with variable carrying capacity and Cosner response function

open access: yesFranklin Open
The environmental carrying capacity plays a major role in population dynamics and is highly unpredictable in predator–prey relationships. In this study, we examine a predator–prey model with logistic growth rate and variable carrying capacity of prey ...

Stability Analysis of a Patchy Predator–Prey Model with Fear Effect

open access: yesAxioms, 2022
In this paper, a predator–prey model with fear effect and dispersal is proposed. Assume that only the prey migrates at a constant rate between patches and the migration of prey on each patch is faster than the time scale of local predator–prey ...

Hyperbolic predators vs parabolic preys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present a nonlinear predator-prey system consisting of a nonlocal conservation law for predators coupled with a parabolic equation for preys. The drift term in the predators' equation is a nonlocal function of the prey density, so that the movement of

TREX1, a predator for treating MSI‐H tumors?

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Immunotherapy benefits many patients; yet, some with MSI‐H tumors remain unresponsive despite their high immunogenicity. Xu et al. reveal that TREX1 enables immune evasion by degrading cytosolic DNA and suppressing cGAS–STING–IFN‐I signaling. TREX1 loss restores DNA sensing, increases CD8+ T and NK cell infiltration, and boosts antitumor immunity ...

Fisher-KPP dynamics in diffusive Rosenzweig-MacArthur and Holling-Tanner models

open access: yes, 2019
We prove the existence of traveling fronts in diffusive Rosenzweig-MacArthur and Holling-Tanner population models and investigate their relation with fronts in a scalar Fisher-KPP equation. More precisely, we prove the existence of fronts in a Rosenzweig-

Biomimetic Iridescent Skin: Robust Prototissues Spontaneously Assembled from Photonic Protocells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Uniform nanoparticles are induced to form arrays (photonic crystals) in the cores of biopolymer capsules, endowing these ‘protocells’ with structural color. These protocells are then assembled into large self‐standing objects, i.e., prototissues, with robust mechanical properties as well as iridescent optical properties.
