A piecewise deterministic model for a prey-predator community [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
International audienceWe are interested in prey-predator communities where the predator population evolves much faster than the prey's (e.g. insect-tree communities).

Expanding Chemical Space of Nucleic Acid Nanoparticles for Tunable Antiviral‐Like Immunomodulatory Responses and Potent Adjuvant Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a nucleic acid nanoparticle (NANP) platform designed to be rrecognized by the human innate immune system in a regulated manner. By changing chemical composition while maintaining constant architectural parameters, we identify key determinants of immunorecognition enabling the rational design of NANPs with tunable immune activation profiles

Toward Smart Moving Target Defense for Linux Container Resiliency

open access: yes, 2016
This paper presents ESCAPE, an informed moving target defense mechanism for cloud containers. ESCAPE models the interaction between attackers and their target containers as a "predator searching for a prey" search game. Live migration of Linux-containers

A Termite‐Inspired Alternative to Cement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A termite‐inspired composite of clay, cellulose, and lignin forms a dense fibrous network with concrete‐like strength (32 MPa) and superior elasticity, processed at ambient temperature. Abstract Clay combined with organic materials is used by termites as a strong and durable construction material for their mounds with minimal environmental impact. Here,

DYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF PREDATOR-PREY MODEL WITH CANNIBALISM INTERVENTION AND DISEASE INFECTION IN PREY USING HOLLING TYPE II RESPONSE FUNCTION

open access: yesBarekeng
This study discusses the intervention of cannibalism and disease spread with Holling Type II response function in the predator-prey model. It is assumed that disease infection is limited to the prey population and cannot be cured so that in this model ...

Complex Dynamics of a Predator–Prey Interaction with Fear Effect in Deterministic and Fluctuating Environments

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
Many ecological models have received much attention in the past few years. In particular, predator–prey interactions have been examined from many angles to capture and explain various environmental phenomena meaningfully. Although the consumption of prey

Chemotactic predator-prey dynamics

open access: yes, 2010
A discrete chemotactic predator-prey model is proposed in which the prey secrets a diffusing chemical which is sensed by the predator and vice versa. Two dynamical states corresponding to catching and escaping are identified and it is shown that steady ...

High‐Spatiotemporal‐Resolution Transparent Thermoelectric Temperature Sensor Arrays Reveal Temperature‐Dependent Windows for Reversible Photothermal Neuromodulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thermoelectric temperature sensors are developed that directly measure heat changes during optical‐based neural stimulation with millisecond precision. The sensors reveal the temperature windows for safe reversible neural modulation: 1.4–4.5 °C enables reversible neural inhibition, while temperatures above 6.1 °C cause permanent thermal damage.

Backward bifurcation, oscillations and chaos in an eco-epidemiological model with fear effect

open access: yesJournal of Biological Dynamics, 2019
This paper considers an eco-epidemiological model with disease in the prey population. The disease in the prey divides the total prey population into two subclasses, susceptible prey and infected prey.

Dynamics of a Predator–Prey Model with Impulsive Diffusion and Transient/Nontransient Impulsive Harvesting

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
Harvesting is one of the ways for humans to realize economic interests, while unrestricted harvesting will lead to the extinction of populations. This paper proposes a predator–prey model with impulsive diffusion and transient/nontransient impulsive ...
