Fitness Facility Staff Can Be Trained to Deliver a Motivational Interviewing-Informed Diabetes Prevention Program

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health, 2021
Background: Training programs must be evaluated to understand whether the training was successful at enabling staff to implement a program with fidelity. This is especially important when the training has been translated to a new context. The aim of this

Modulation and bioinformatics screening of hepatic mRNA-lncRNAs (HML) network associated with insulin resistance in prediabetic and exercised mice

open access: yesNutrition & Metabolism, 2021
Background Insulin resistance is associated with prediabetes and further progression to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study aims to investigate novel hepatic lncRNAs associated with key genes in insulin resistance in prediabetes.

Nutraceutical Evaluation of Biscuits Formulated From Acha, Chia, and Soycake Flours on Glycemic Control, Lipid Profile, and Histopathological Effects in High‐Fat Diet/Streptozotocin‐Induced Type 2 Diabetic Rats

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Acha–chia–soycake biscuits improved glucose tolerance, lipid profile, insulin levels, and pancreatic integrity in HFD–STZ diabetic rats. ACSB1 and ACSB13 outperformed acarbose, showing potent antihyperglycemic, hypolipidemic, and pancreatic‐protective effects.

Protocol for a randomised controlled trial of the effect of dapagliflozin, metformin and exercise on glycaemic variability, body composition and cardiovascular risk in prediabetes (the PRE-D Trial) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Introduction: The primary aim of this study is to compare the efficacy of three short-term glucose-lowering interventions (exercise, metformin and dapagliflozin) on glycaemic variability in overweight or obese men and women with elevated diabetes risk ...
