Construction and validation of a prognostic model for severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesYixue xinzhi zazhi
Objective To explore the risk factors for the prognosis of patients with severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS), and establish and validate a nomogram prediction model. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Development of an XGBoost-based prediction model for wound recurrence risk in diabetic foot ulcer patients treated with antibiotic-loaded bone cement

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
BackgroundThis study aims to improve the surgical cure rate, develop interventions to reduce the incidence of postoperative nonunion or recurrence of diabetic foot wounds, and formulate an optimal prediction model to quantify the predictive risk value of

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Validation of a Clinical Scoring System for Outcome Prediction in Dogs with Acute Kidney Injury Managed by Hemodialysis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BackgroundA scoring system for outcome prediction in dogs with acute kidney injury (AKI) recently has been developed but has not been validated.HypothesisThe scoring system previously developed for outcome prediction will accurately predict outcome in a ...

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

BAYESIAN CURVE ESTIMATION BY MODEL AVERAGING [PDF]

open access: yes
A bayesian approach is used to estimate a nonparametric regression model. The main features of the procedure are, first, the functional form of the curve is approximated by a mixture of local polynomials by Bayesian Model Averaging (BMA); second, the ...

Curve Fitting and Optimal Design for Prediction

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 1978
Summary The optimal design problem is tackled in the framework of a new model and new objectives. A regression model is proposed in which the regression function is permitted to take any form over the space X of independent variables. The design objective is based on fitting a simplified function for prediction.
