A load prediction method using memory neural network and curve shape correction

open access: yes电力工程技术
Aiming at the problems that multiplex influencing factors and strong uncertainty in distribution network load caused by the capacity accumulation of distributed generation and new loads, a load prediction method using memory neural network and curve ...

Has M2 demand become unstable? [PDF]

open access: yes
Standard M2 demand regressions generate prediction errors in 1990, 1991, and 1992 that cumulate to an overprediction of M2 of about 4.2 to 4.3 percent by the second quarter of 1992.

Functional Lagged Regression with Sparse Noisy Observations

open access: yes, 2020
A functional (lagged) time series regression model involves the regression of scalar response time series on a time series of regressors that consists of a sequence of random functions.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Development and validation of a novel critical risk stratification scale for hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome patients with Hantaan virus infection

open access: yesInternational Journal of Infectious Diseases
Objectives: To develop and validate a critical risk prediction model for hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome caused by Hantaan virus. Methods: Patients were randomly divided into a training group (n = 344) and a validation group (n = 226).

The performance and prediction ability of advanced approach to ductile fracture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The present paper deals with the modelling of ductile fracture which is the result of severe plastic deformation under monotonic loading. It can be the result of a crash or accident or introduced intentionally. There is a need of increasing the safety in

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Caveats for information bottleneck in deterministic scenarios

open access: yes, 2019
Information bottleneck (IB) is a method for extracting information from one random variable $X$ that is relevant for predicting another random variable $Y$. To do so, IB identifies an intermediate "bottleneck" variable $T$ that has low mutual information
