Extramedullary multiple myeloma patient-derived orthotopic xenograft with a highly altered genome: combined molecular and therapeutic studies

open access: yesDisease Models & Mechanisms, 2021
Extramedullary multiple myeloma (EMM) has an overall survival of 6 months and occurs in 20% of multiple myeloma (MM) patients. Genetic and epigenetic mechanisms involved in EMM and the therapeutic role of new agents for MM are not well established ...

SMARCA4 deficient tumours are vulnerable to KDM6A/UTX and KDM6B/JMJD3 blockade

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
SMARCA4 is commonly inactivated in lung and ovarian cancers. Here the authors show that SMARCA4-deficient tumours have significantly reduced levels of the histone demethylases KDM6s and a strong dependency on these demethylases for tumour growth, so that

Predicting transcription factor synergism [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2002
Transcriptional regulation is mediated by a battery of transcription factor (TF) proteins, that form complexes involving protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions. Individual TFs bind to their cognate cis-elements or transcription factor-binding sites (TFBS). TFBS are organized on the DNA proximal to the gene in groups confined to a few hundred base

Factor Covariances Predict Factor Returns [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2013
We examine low-turnover zero-investment “factor” portfolios constructed from various stock characteristics previously shown to predict returns. The nine different factor portfolios all exhibit negative market betas. Our central result is that a more negative beta across factors predicts higher factor returns over the next two years.

Predictive factors of melanoma thickness

open access: yesAnais Brasileiros de Dermatologia, 2022
Melanoma thickness is a relevant prognostic marker that is crucial for staging and its calculation relies on the histopathological examination. There is a risk of thickness underestimation with an incisional biopsy if the latter is not performed on a tumor area where the thickness is maximal. This occurrence may have an impact on a therapeutic decision,

Short-Term Lung Function Changes and Predictors of Progressive Systemic Sclerosis–Related Interstitial Lung Disease [PDF]

open access: yesTuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, 2020
Background Systemic sclerosis (SSc) involves multiple organ systems and has the highest mortality among connective tissue diseases. Interstitial lung disease is the most common cause of death among SSc patients and requires closer studies and follow-ups.

Multiple low dose therapy as an effective strategy to treat EGFR inhibitor-resistant NSCLC tumours

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
A drug used at the maximum tolerated dose can exert a strong selective pressure on cancer cells leading to resistance. In this study, the authors demonstrate the efficacy of using low dose of multiple drugs for preventing and treating resistance to EGFR ...
