Exploring fundus‐controlled mesopic and scotopic perimetry in inherited retinal disease
Abstract Purpose Microperimetry is increasingly used as an outcome measure in clinical trials for retinal disease. This study compares mesopic and scotopic microperimetry in a heterogeneous cohort of patients with inherited retinal disease to assess their suitability as clinical trial outcome measures and to determine the most appropriate testing ...

Location and function of the preferred retinal locus in age related macular degeneration patients
BACKGROUND. Almost 2 million people in the UK are blind or partially sighted and this number is expected to double by 2030. Of this number, approximately 85% have residual vision (low vision) that can be used effectively for daily activities with ...

Abstract Coats disease diagnosed in adulthood is a rare idiopathic retinal telangiectatic vasculopathy that may differ in phenotype from childhood‐diagnosed cases. This systematic review synthesizes current evidence to characterize its clinical spectrum, imaging features, treatment outcomes and underlying mechanisms, with a focus on immunovascular ...

Streamlining Diagnosis of Bardet–Biedl Syndrome: New Diagnostic Algorithm With Updated Criteria
ABSTRACT Considerable advances have been made in our understanding of Bardet–Biedl syndrome (BBS), particularly in its core clinical features and molecular genetics, warranting an update to the existing diagnostic criteria framework. Using a rigorous, evidence‐based, and consensus‐driven process, a multidisciplinary group of international experts and ...

ABSTRACT Autosomal recessive HARS1‐related disorder (originally described as Usher syndrome type 3B) caused by a homozygous Y454S variant in the histidyl‐tRNA synthetase gene (HARS1) is characterized by progressive sensorineural hearing and vision loss and respiratory deterioration with risk for sudden death following febrile illnesses.

Following traumatic CNS injury, PANoptosis is activated in microglia and neurons, with microglia–neuron crosstalk serving as a key feature of this process. The PANoptosome sensors ZBP1 and NLRP12, together with the adaptor ASC, activate downstream executioner proteins to drive PANoptosis.

Short‐Chain Fatty Acids: Microbial Metabolites Driving Gut‐Eye Axis Signaling
Short‐chain fatty acids generated by gut microbial fermentation link diet to ocular physiology via the gut–eye axis. Through systemic distribution, these metabolites regulate GPCR signaling, epigenetic pathways, inflammation, and angiogenesis, shaping retinal homeostasis and highlighting therapeutic potential in ocular vascular and inflammatory ...

EHA Guidelines on the management of children and adults with hemoglobin SC disease
Abstract HbSC disease is the second most common type of sickle cell disease (SCD) in populations of African origin. Although it is often grouped together with other types of SCD, particularly sickle cell anemia (HbSS), it has unique pathophysiology and a different spectrum of laboratory and clinical features.

Compared with single‐photon methods, TPM enables deep‐tissue imaging using near‐infrared light, with excitation confined to the focal plane, thereby reducing photodamage. SHG microscopy images noncentrosymmetric biological structures such as collagen and myosin without fluorescent labels, offering direct structural contrast.
