Preformed Bacterial Toxins

Clinics in Laboratory Medicine, 1999
Food poisoning syndromes caused by four different bacteria are described. For all types, food kept at a permissive temperature allows growth of the vegetative forms of the bacteria and production of a toxin or toxins. The key features of these syndromes, as well as possible new trends of concern, are summarized in Table 1.

Optical fiber preform diagnostics

Applied Optics, 1979
A sensitive, nondestructive, and noncontacting method is described for obtaining structural information on the preforms from which optical fibers are produced. The technique allows the determination of the core size and the core eccentricity from direct observation of light traversing the preform normal to its axis.

Preform index profiling (PIP)

Applied Optics, 1979
An automatic and nondestructive focusing method to determine the refractive index distributions of optical fiber preforms is presented. The preform is immersed in index matching oil, and collimated light is passed transversely through it. The intensity distribution of the transmitted light is detected with a vidicon camera equipped with a low f-number ...

Preformed Glazing

1977
This paper discusses the design considerations necessary for high performance glazing systems. Such areas as joint design and joint sealing, proper cushioning of glass, dissipation of heat, and control of air and water movement are examined. Performance characteristics of the various sealants and preextruded glazing tapes are cited, with values ...
